A prayer by The Most Reverend John C. Nienstedt

 Father of life and of love, you call us out of darkness into your own wonderful light, a light in which all of your sons and daughters are cherished and nurtured as gifts to be welcomed and to be reverenced.

Grant to us, your people, an unfailing understanding of the inviolable dignity of all human life, and the courage to defend it in word and in action. Give to us all, we pray, the strength to be champions for life, willing to run the race for your glory and the honor that comes from serving you in the most weak and vulnerable of your children. May we never tire of working for that peace and justice that can only be fulfilled when you are the source and summit of our efforts. 

Lord, we pray that all who have been wounded by the scourge of abortion may be touched by your healing hand and experience the reconciliation that is your grace and your power. May violence in all its forms be silenced soon, and together with all who are dedicated to the work of life and of love, may we reign with you in your kingdom of peace forever.

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, who is our great high priest and Lord forever and ever.
